# Coastal Immigration Beacon

Coastal Immigration Beacon turns the original unique Beacon into a functional coastal immigration port.

The Beacon must be constructed on the coastline with its docking area extending into the ocean. When the next group of immigrants is approaching, a small physical boat appears at the edge of the map, travels toward the Beacon, docks beside its pier, waits for immigration to complete, and then returns to the ocean.

The original Captain of Industry immigration system remains responsible for workers, electricity, Unity consumption, progress, rewards, and population delivery.

## Features

- Requires the original unique Beacon to be constructed on the coast
- Adds a long wooden pier to the Beacon model
- Adds a visible ocean docking area
- Pier and docking area are visible during building placement
- Existing inland Beacons remain in the save
- Immigration is stopped when the Beacon does not have a valid ocean berth
- Clear inspector message explains an invalid Beacon placement
- Small physical immigration boat
- Boat spawns at the ocean edge in the direction of the Beacon pier
- Boat approaches and docks beside the pier
- Boat waits at the berth until vanilla immigration completes
- Boat departs and returns toward the map edge afterward
- Immigration boat pauses when the Beacon is paused or disabled
- Uses vanilla ship engine audio, arrival horn, departure horn, and ship particle effects
- Boat does not occupy a fleet or ship slot
- Boat cannot be selected or controlled by the player
- Boat is removed before saving and is never serialized
- Original Beacon workers, electricity, Unity, progress, rewards, and population logic remain unchanged
- Localized immigration-dock interface
- Optional compatibility with the Storage Auto Pause semaphore position

## How to use

1. Research and unlock the original Beacon.
2. Select the Beacon in the construction menu.
3. Rotate it so that its pier points toward the ocean.
4. Place it directly on the coast.
5. Ensure that the complete green docking area lies over the ocean.
6. Construct and operate the Beacon normally.

The Beacon inspector displays whether its coastal berth is valid.

When the next immigration cycle approaches completion, the immigration boat begins its journey from the ocean edge toward the Beacon.

## Boat journey

The boat is synchronized with the original immigration cycle.

It travels toward the distant edge of the docking area, turns toward the pier, and docks alongside it. It then remains at the berth until the vanilla immigration system completes and adds the new inhabitants.

After unloading, the boat sounds its horn, leaves the pier in a smooth turn, travels back toward the edge of the map, and disappears.

If the player pauses or disables the Beacon while the boat is travelling, the boat waits until the Beacon can continue operating.

## Existing inland Beacons

The mod can be added to an existing save containing a Beacon.

An existing inland Beacon will remain in the save, but immigration will be stopped because it does not have a valid ocean docking area. Rebuild the Beacon on the coastline with its pier and docking area facing the ocean to restore immigration.

## Vanilla immigration remains unchanged

The mod does not directly add population or replace the original refugee system.

The following systems remain controlled by the base game:

- required workers
- electricity consumption
- Unity consumption
- immigration progress
- immigration rewards
- number of arriving inhabitants
- interruption and reset rules

The boat and pier provide a physical visual representation of the existing immigration process.

## Compatibility and saves

Coastal Immigration Beacon version 0.2.10 is verified for Captain of Industry 0.8.6.

The mod can be added to an existing save.

The immigration boat is a temporary visual object. It is removed before every save and does not participate in game serialization, fleet limits, or ship ownership.

Do not remove the mod from a save that uses its modified Beacon. The mod is not marked as safely removable.
