it seems when i hold shift to make a striaght line, it still zig zags and makes it much harder to make clean pipe lines, is there a way you can fix it?

i found that the first time i built a 2 lane and 4 lane bidge to get to the other island to make it flatter and after building some new aquatic trucks and excavators to make it a bit easier but the huge excavator doesnt want to cross either bridge, i want to see if there is a way to make it cross the bridges?
